Check The Style 2026 - Recap

Check The Style 2026 - Recap

This year was special.
We already know that Check The Style  is among the top events in the world, and we already know that for years, breakers from all over the world have made L'Aquila one of the capitals of Breaking. We also know that beyond the contest, there's a family atmosphere and that you can have fun socializing, leaving this damn sporting and hyper-individualistic competition rightfully aside. The athletes can keep the sport.

The culture, the community, and the fun are ours, B-Boys and B-Girls, as it should be.

Just as we know that to win you have to sweat a lot, given the level and number of participants. A tour de force for the judges, given the impressive numbers: 662 participants in the various 1vs1 categories, 125 couples for the 2vs2, and 31 crews for the Crew Battle. Wow! Yet this year was a little more special than the others for several reasons. The first is the location: the skate park that hosted this edition is awesome, finally open air and lots of sun practically in the city center; many of us were waiting for a place like this. Second: this year there was also Writing! Finally, representatives from all four disciplines. Third: in addition to the livestream, the Battles were uploaded to the internet practically in real time with impressive efficiency. The team spirit and kindness of the entire organizing team led by Snook are truly top notch. We don't want to repeat ourselves, but essentially it continues the great journey of an event (and an organization) that began in 2003 and which, step by step, has brought Italy to the center of world Battles. The usual lineup of DJs and hosts, a guarantee. Thousands of visitors. Arrosticini and atomic sandwiches thanks to the legendary paninoteca I Briganti.. Screenings of mega-interesting documentaries thanks to Hip Hop Cinefest.

What more could you want to get up from your lazy ass and come next year? Like every year, we'll be there to support and contribute to what has become the most anticipated event of the year. We haven't forgotten where it started, and this makes us even more proud.

Support neighborhood jams, small independent events, and people who work hard to create something. Check the Style is proof that you can grow from the bottom up if you support and are supported. All the biggest, genuine events in the world started small; never forget that. So, stop complaining and get to work. If we don't all build and stay united, only vultures will feast on the culture we love.

Hugs to all the friends who stopped by our stand and with whom we shared so many wonderful moments.

See y'all on the streets!
